(Will be needed to get to all sections of the Greater Toronto Area for various shifts)

 

Job Summary:

As Location Support Personnel in the Greater Toronto Area’s vibrant film and television industry, you will assist the Locations Department with on-the-ground support during production. This role involves preparing, maintaining, and protecting filming locations, ensuring smooth operations and respectful interaction with the public, neighbourhoods, and businesses. Work is typically fast-paced, outdoors, and can include long hours — ideal for individuals who are reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic about the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Location Prep & Wrap:
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down filming locations (e.g., signage, cones, tents, walkways).
  • Load/unload production vehicles and maintain cleanliness of set and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure locations are returned to pre-filming condition after wrap.
  • Public & Neighbour Relations:
  • Act as the first point of contact between the film crew and local residents/businesses.
  • Hand out community notification letters and answer basic questions about filming.
  • Handle complaints or concerns with diplomacy and direct more complex issues to the Location Manager.
  • Traffic & Parking Management:
  • Reserve and monitor production parking in accordance with Toronto Film Office permits.
  • Assist with pedestrian and vehicle flow, ensuring public safety and minimal disruption.
  • Direct delivery vehicles and crew to appropriate loading/unloading zones.
  • Permit & Bylaw Compliance:
  • Help enforce terms outlined in city-issued film permits, including noise restrictions, curfews, and road use limitations.
  • Monitor production’s adherence to all municipal, provincial, and union guidelines.
  • Site Security & Access Control:
  • Monitor equipment and access to set during prep, shoot, and wrap.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas.
  • Crew Support:
  • Assist with basic tasks for departments (e.g., helping electrics with cable runs or clearing walkways).
  • Remain available via walkie-talkie to respond to immediate production needs.

Qualifications:

  • Assets:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication
  • Able to work outdoors for long hours in all weather conditions
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently or in teams
  • Familiarity with the City of Toronto’s film policies and neighbourhood layouts
  • Required:
  • HI-VIS Safety Vest
  • 4 Steps Workplace Health and Safety Certificate
  • Transportation around Toronto and GTA (Public Transport or Personal Vehicle)
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends

Additional Details:

  • You will be a permittee under the Director’s Guild of Canada Union
  • Pay rate is $19.77 per hour + $17.50 per day for meal + $2.00 per day for cell phone
  • Shifts are available Day and Night and are usually 12 hours per shift
  • Work hours can range from 12-60 hours per week

Work Location: Various locations throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
