Job Objectives Manages the operation of a Walgreens store and improves store sales, profitability and image through proper merchandising, protection of store assets, staff selection, training and development, and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience. Responsibilities Customer Experience Monitor and analyze customer service provided by team members; offer reminders, training, and action plans for improvement in both retail and pharmacy. Greet customers and clinic patients; assist with products and services. Model and share customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Resolve customer complaints and respond to customers’ special needs. Operations Supervise store and pharmacy operations, including opening/closing, shift changes, task delegation and scheduling. Oversee cash handling, banking, safe deposits, and all bookkeeping activities. Plan and implement merchandising sets, displays, and promotional space using pricing, signs, and seasonal items. Analyze inventory trends, manage ordering, stock levels, liquidation, and prevent outs/overstock. Oversee receiving, stocking, pricing, returns, and transfers of merchandise. Implement operational feedback from District Manager; ensure store compliance with laws and regulations, including sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products. Ensure staff are proficient with computer and technology systems (e.g., registers, StoreNet, Intercom+); coordinate IT support as needed. Maintain store and grounds, manage repairs, and respond to emergencies. Hire, place, schedule, and delegate work; ensure proper organization of store operations. Uphold company policies and respectful coworker relationships; complete special assignments as needed. Daily Planning and Execution Assign daily operational responsibilities, set expectations for store team members and assistant managers. Business Performance Management Analyze financial and performance data; develop actions to increase sales and control costs. Review KPIs daily and discuss with district management. Analyze asset protection data; implement actions to reduce loss. Analyze pharmacy performance indicators; work with the pharmacy manager to enhance pharmacy performance; may serve as a pharmacy technician when necessary and permitted by law. Analyze clinic performance indicators and coordinate with Clinic Coordinator/Manager to support performance. Business Planning Identify sales opportunities to ensure growth and performance of store and pharmacy. Manage inventory levels through ordering, stock management, and seasonal planning. People and Performance Management Manage team member performance; assign responsibilities, set goals, provide feedback, and recognize achievements; oversee employee career progression. Ensure timely completion of required training, including pharmacy training; provide coaching. Make hiring, promotion, and termination decisions; address issues with Employee Relations/HR as appropriate. Develop performance plans and monitor deadlines; approve team member compensation. Promote teamwork, motivate staff, and communicate vision; ensure fair treatment and compliance with policies and employment laws. Maintain open communication with team members through one-on-one discussions and group meetings. Training and Personal Development Participate in company/on-the-job training to improve skills and productivity; complete Walgreens School of Operations within six months in Store Manager position. Follow performance improvement plans; pursue pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law; pursue applicable certifications (PTCB or ExCPT). Seek self-development and knowledge about retail and management and the pharmacy field. Communications Serve as liaison between district, corporate, and store; provide feedback and implement initiatives. Conduct community outreach and assist with planning community events. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh as soon as possible per state requirements (no later than 12 months from start date). Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. PTCB or ExCPT Certification. Three years retail management experience with supervising others and assigning work. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh.
